Wisconsin man heading to jail for neglecting cows

A judge has sentenced a Wisconsin man to six months in jail, three years of probation and banned him from owning animals again. According to a Fox11 News report, the judge also ordered Joseph Brunner, of Shawano County, Wis., to speak to local FFA groups.

Brunner was arrested earlier this summer after a foul odor led officials to 24 dead cows on his farm.  He reportedly told authorities during questioning that the animals had been sick with pneumonia and wasting disease. Click here to learn more about the case.

A few months after his arrest, Brunner pleaded no contest to animal neglect charges.
