A proposed 5,300-animal, 7,000-acre dairy overcame a major legal hurdle on Thursday, but more challenges remain.

A judge ruled in favor of the Wysocki Family of Cos., who plan to build the Golden Sands Dairy in Saratoga, Wis. According to the Marshfield News Herald, the city’s leaders opposed the plan and initially refused to issue building permits.

After the ruling, the Saratoga building inspector has been ordered to issue permits for the dairy.

There are other potential challenges ahead, including the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources’ approval process.
