A Wisconsin dairy farmer diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (M.S.) two decades ago is still milking thanks to his Lely robotic milker. Jeff and Jo Berg, at Berg’s Lane Creek Dairy Farm, La Crosse, Wisc., milk 60 cows through the robot they acquired with help from a grant for farmers with disabilities. The Berg’s 19-year-old son, Aaron, is also evaluating rejoining the operation.
An article in the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel profiled the family and other robotic dairy operations in the state. According to the article, Lely’s Rick Rugg says that Wisconsin now has over 100 robotic milking machines.
