TB found in N.D. dairy heifer

Officials confirmed a case of tuberculosis in a heifer from an Oliver County (N.D.) dairy herd.

According to a press release from the North Dakota Department of Agriculture, state and federal veterinarians are now investigating the case.

Susan Keller, the state veterinarian, said the case was found when the owner agreed to have the herd tested after an employee tested positive for Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex.  

The herd owner and employee are fully cooperating with officials, and more testing will be completed to determine the source of the disease and prevent its spread.
