The Wichita Business Journal writes Koch Industries is taking a stand against a report by Greenpeace portraying Koch as a company funding research to debunk climate change.

The report, “Koch Industries: Secretly Funding the Climate Denial Machine”, accuses Koch Industries of spending millions using multiple outlets to criticize the impact of human activities on global warming. The executive summary of the report says Koch contributed $24.9 million to organizations of the ‘climate denial machine’.

In the report, Greenpeace adds Koch encouraged the Climategate story, saying scientists altered research and data to show global warming is exponentially worse than original data revealed. Koch released a statement that the report “mischaracterizes our efforts and distorts the environmental record of our companies.”

The statement released by Koch continues, “For more than 50 years, Koch companies have supported science-based inquiry and robust dialogue on a variety of important issues, including climate change,” the statement says. “Koch companies believe scientific debate requires an open and honest airing of all viewpoints and research. Koch companies will continue our work to advance economic freedom and market-based policy solutions to the challenges our society faces.”
