Youth compete in World Dairy Expo Showmanship Contest

Over 267 youth participated in the 2011 World Dairy Expo Youth Showmanship Contest Thursday evening in the Coliseum. This event features three age brackets for youth to measure their cattle exhibiting skills. Junior showmen range in age from 9 years to 12 years, intermediate competitors are 13 to 15 years old and the senior showmanship division is open to 16 to 21 year old individuals. Full story

Dublin-Hills Treats owned by Peter Vail and Ken Main of Copake, NY was tapped as the 2011 Grand Champion of the International Brown Swiss Show at World Dairy Expo and received the Grand Champion Udder Comfort $1,000 Cash Award. Full story

Busy Bee Syndicate Jasper owned by Elisabeth Regusci of Modesto, CA. was tapped for Senior and Grand Champion at the International Junior Brown Swiss Show at World Dairy Expo. Reserve Champion honors went to Dublin-Hills Shirlyn exhibited by Jeffrey Hubbard of Thurmont, MD. Full story

Wisconsin sends hay to drought-stricken Oklahoma and Texas

The first load of donated hay was delivered to a drought stricken area near Altus, Okla., late last month and a second load is slated to arrive this week. But as organizers of the Waupun Equipment Hay Drive have learned, there is more work to be done. Full story
