World Dairy Expo releases seminar schedule

World Dairy Expo recently released its educational seminar line-up for this year’s event, to take place Oct. 3-7 in Madison, Wis.

All seminars are held in the Exhibition Hall, which is located on the grounds of the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wis.

Here is the 2006 seminar schedule as of June 13, 2006:

Tuesday, Oct. 3.    

  • 11 a.m. – “How to be a part of something BIG! Moo Matchers, Mouse Potatoes, Seed Jockeys and other fun things to do in agriculture,” Kevin Coffman, Monsanto.  
  • 1 p.m. – “If You Don’t Speak for Agriculture, Someone Else Will,” Trent Loos, “Loos Tales.”

Wednesday, Oct. 4.    

  • 11 a.m. – “High Forage Diets in Relation to Animal and Human Health,” Tilak Dhiman, Utah State University.   
  • 1 p.m. – “Opportunities in Value-Added Marketing,” Richard Cates, Jr., Wisconsin School for Beginning Dairy Farmers.

Thursday, Oct. 5.    

  • 11 a.m. – “Managing Key Variables in Dairy Production,” panel discussion. 
  • 1 p.m. – “Dealing with Distillers – A Nutrient Driven Approach,” Kurt Ruppel, Cargill Animal Nutrition.

Friday, Oct. 6.   

  • 11 a.m. – “Proven Recruiting and Hiring Strategies of the Best Managers,” Don Tyler, Tyler & Associates.  
  • 1 p.m. – “Skinny Cows Aren’t so Sexy. Relationships among Dairyness, Body Condition, Reproduction and Health,” Chad Dechow, Penn State University.

Saturday, Oct. 7.   

  • 11 a.m. – “What MUN Tells us About Protein Nutrition of the Dairy Cow,” Glen Broderick, USDA Dairy Forage Research Center.  
  • 1 p.m. – “Strategies for Reducing the Incidence of Clinical and Subclinical Hypocalcemia in Dairy Cows,” Ron Horst, USDA National Animal Disease Center.
