Milk powder plant explosion

An explosion at a California Dairies milk-processing plant in Visalia, Calif., on Monday started a fire on the fourth and fifth floors of a milk-powder processing tower.

The explosion poked a gaping hole in the side of a multi-story milk-powder processing building. The plant’s approximately 200 employees were evacuated.

The Fresno Bee reported that damage to the plant was estimated at $200,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but the explosion and fire broke out in the equipment that turns milk into milk powder.

One employee suffered heat exhaustion and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. He was later released.
