With animal-rights activists trying to besmirch the image of dairy farming, here is a story that helps put the industry in a positive light.

It talks about cows being pampered. It cites incidents of cows receiving chiropractic treatments, sleeping on waterbeds and listening to classical music.

“Cow comfort has become a key concern for the nation’s farmers, who have known for generations that contented cows give more milk,” the story said. “The traditional techniques for keeping cows happy aren’t complicated ― feed them well, keep the temperature comfortable and give them room to move around. But some dairy farmers are turning to a new array of creative options intended to keep cows as mellow ― and productive ― as possible.“

The Associated Press article ran in newspapers and broadcast sites across the country on Tuesday.
