In a poll conducted in mid-January by Harris Interactive, 16 percent of the 2,289 respondents said they were "extremely concerned" about food safety, 23 percent were "very concerned," and 34 percent were "somewhat concerned."
The survey results were reported in the March issue of American Demographics, a magazine that tracks consumer behavior and societal trends. And those survey results go hand in hand with changing consumer behaviors noted in that issue. For example, consumers are becoming more demanding about everything they buy. Regarding food, they want to know more about the ingredients and manufacturing processes.
