A fire erupted on a Wisconsin dairy Sunday evening, killing three calves.

The fire occurred at a Harrison, Wis., dairy as farmer Randy Chrudimski and his employees were unloading hay bales into the upper level of a barn. Then, one of the workers noticed smoke.

Within a short period of time, the barn was fully engulfed, Chrudimski told WJFW news.

Despite everyone's best efforts, three calves perished in the fire.

"We started chasing the smaller ones out and three decided they didn't want to come out and they went back in. They perished," Chrudimski told the television station.

The fire also destroyed the barn.
