CWT assists with 2.9 million lbs. of cheese, butter, WMP export sales

Cooperatives Working Together (CWT) accepted 12 requests for export assistance from Dairy Farmers of America, Maryland & Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative Association, Michigan Milk Producers Association, Tillamook County Creamery Association and United Dairymen of Arizona to sell 912,714 lbs. of cheddar and Gouda cheese, 1.355 million lbs. of 82% butter and 606,271 lbs. of whole milk powder to customers in Asia, Central America, Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and the South Pacific. The product will be delivered March through August 2014.

 Year-to-date, CWT has assisted member cooperatives in selling 26.985 million lbs. of cheese, 11.774 million lbs. of butter and 1.305 million lbs. of whole milk powder to 19 countries on five continents. These sales are the equivalent of 514.3 million lbs. of milk on a milkfat basis.

Dairy replacement sales results from Jerome, Idaho, on March 5:

Springers (top 150): $1770 with top of $2410

Fresh heifers: $1,160-$1,890

Short bred: $1190-$1300

Open heifers (400-500 lbs.): $117-$122/cwt.
