Topeka, KS – Kansas Governor Sam Brownback is scheduled to speak to over 200 grain handlers on April 19 at the Holiday Inn at the Kansas State University campus in Manhattan. The Governor is one of three featured speakers at the 115th Annual Meeting of the Kansas Grain and Feed Association (KGFA). Grain and feed industry professionals from across Kansas gather annually to network with fellow colleagues before the summer harvest season.

Other highlighted speakers will include Michael Dunn, Commissioner for the United States Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), who will talk about last year’s wheat market convergence issue. Dunn will give KGFA members insight into the Chicago and Kansas City Board of Trade’s action from the CFTC’s perspective. Dana Peterson, President and CEO of the National Association of Wheat Growers (NAWG), will then give an update on wheat research progress at the private and university levels and how the NAWG is advocating this need on Capitol Hill.

Other important business will be conducted during the Annual Meeting including a report to the membership on 2010 activities, as well as board of director elections. A complete agenda and registration information can be found at www.ksgrainandfeed.org.

Founded in 1896, the Topeka-based KGFA is a voluntary non-profit, trade organization providing governmental representation, educational opportunities and a wide variety of other services to the vast and indispensable grain and feed marketing system.  KGFA’s 900 members include country elevators, subterminal and terminal elevators, feed manufacturers, flour mills, grain merchandisers and allied industries such as grain exchanges, equipment manufacturers, insurance firms and railroads.  KGFA is proud to represent 99% of the federal or state licensed grain storage in the state of Kansas.
