Whey has become a magic ingredient, and dairy farmers in California are wondering why they aren’t getting paid more for it.
Later this week, the California Department of Food and Agriculture will hold a hearing to determine if the value of whey should go up in the state’s Class 4b pricing formula.
Farmers would like to see the price of whey raised so it is comparable to the Federal Order value that many other states use, Tulare, Calif., dairy producer Cornell Kasbergen told the Visalia Times-Delta.
