MADISON, Wis. A Canadian Holstein received one of the most coveted titles in the dairy industry Saturday when named Supreme Champion at World Dairy Expo.

RF Goldwyn Hailey, owned by Gen-Com Holstein Ltd. of Notre-Dame-du-Bon-Conseil, Quebec, took the top honor among all breeds after being named the winning Six-Year-Old & Older Cow and Senior Champion of the 2012 International Holstein Open Show.

The Reserve Champion was a Jersey, Arethusa Response Vivid-ET, owned by Arethusa Farm, of Litchfield, Conn.

Unfortunately, there are reports that a “prize-winning cow” from World Dairy Expo was killed in a vehicle crash Saturday night. The cow apparently was a Jersey from outside the state of Wisconsin, but the article wasn’t any more specific than that. Read more.
