Biomass Magazine reports a number of anaerobic digesters on dairy farms in Idaho will collectively power the largest biogas project on the continent.
Camco International Ltd., based in London, officially launched the project and expects it to be completed by the middle of next year. Camco will install an undetermined number of anaerobic digesters to convert cow manure to biogas. The project will have the capacity for 4.5 megawatts of power.
The project is expected to cost about $25 million, but 30 percent of construction costs will be paid for by the Recovery Act 1603 Program.
Camco has completed a 20-year power purchase agreement.
