The Green Bay Press Gazette reports layoffs and a $2.04 million cut in state aid won’t halt the Northcentral Technical College’s Agriculture Center of Excellence as dairy cows begin to arrive at the lab.
The NTC issued 21 layoff notices including its only full-time agriculture instructor. The center will employ part-time instructors with more specific knowledge in agriculture.
The center operates separately from the college, but provides the lab for students to gain hands-on experience. The center accepted 10 heifers last Monday and expect to receive another 30 on Tuesday. Upon completion, the lab will have 105 to 110 dairy cows, used to educate students on day-to-day operations on the farm.
