For its 10th anniversary, Shatto Milk Co. of Osborn, Mo., has announced plans for more flavors.
The first – Chocolate Cherry Milk – appeared with the word “smooch” printed on the bottle and delivered this week to area grocery stores. Just 2,000 of the glass bottles were produced.
“We wanted to thank all of our customers and do a fun thing for our anniversary,” Barb Shatto told The Kansas City Star. “The smooch is the kiss we want to blow to all of our customers. We wouldn’t be here without them.”
The next festive flavor will be announced in March and have a St. Patrick’s Day theme. Click here to read more from The Kansas City Star.
Shatto’s dairy farming history dates back more than 60 years, but in 2003 the dairy began to process and bottle milk on premises.
Shatto is one of many milk producers across the country that is finding creative ways to jump-start interest in its products.
In addition to standard chocolate and strawberry, Shatto has added cotton candy, banana and orange creme to its flavored milk offerings.
In the fall of 2011, Shatto came out with coffee-flavored milk.
"It's been a big hit," Barb Shatto told Dairy Herd Network shortly after the coffee-flavored introduction. "It's been phenomenal, actually. Our sales, so far, have exceeded expectations," she adds.
