The economic signals continue to be mixed, but regardless of what you choose to believe, most Americans believe that the United States will slip into a second recession. They also look for more home foreclosures to come on to the scene, according to an IBOPE Zogby Interactive Poll.

In a recent survey, 95 percent of likely U.S. voters expressed their economic pessimism, saying they are very or somewhat concerned that the U.S. economy is slipping into another recession. As for home foreclosures, 89% are similarly concerned that those will increase in the next two years, Zogby reports.

Conducted during Oct. 2-5, the survey also showed that the concerns ran across party lines, but that Democrats are less likely than Republicans or independents to be very concerned about both.

Here’s how it broke out. “How concerned are you that the U.S. economy will slip into another recession?”
•    Very concerned – 65%
•    Somewhat concerned – 30%
•    Not very concerned – 4%
•    Not at all concerned – 1%
•    Not sure – 1%

Note that Zogby points out that the totals may differ due to rounding.

As for the foreclosure question: “How concerned are you that there will be a continued increase in foreclosures for the next two years?” Here’s the response:
•    Very concerned – 55%
•    Somewhat concerned – 35%
•    Not very concerned – 8%
•    Not at all concerned – 2%
•    Not sure – 1%

Zogby polls, being self selected online polls, are notoriously inaccurate. People are concerned about the economy, there's no doubt, but few signs are pointing to another recession.
