Animal-health officials located, euthanized and tested at least one offspring from the California cow that tested positive for BSE in April. The test showed no sign of BSE in the animal, which was at a dairy in another state, according to an Associated Press article.

Over the past two years, the BSE cow also reportedly delivered a stillborn calf, which probably cannot be traced.

The dairy where the BSE cow resided is under routine quarantine, and officials continue to investigate feed sources and the heifer-development facility that raised the cow.
