The 2013 Penn State Dairy Cattle Nutrition Workshop will be held November 12-13 at the Holiday Inn in Grantville, Pa. This workshop provides applied dairy nutrition information and training to feed industry professionals. The Nov. 12 preconference sponsored by Prince Agri-Products will emphasize optimizing dairy cattle performance and evaluating management strategy success. Lecture topics on Nov. 13 will focus on forages, with sessions on digestibility, alternative crops, and farm profitability. Breakout workshops will explore all these subjects and more; a wide variety of topics from metabolic disease and fatty acid nutrition to alternative forages, calf feeding systems, managing mastitis, immigration issues, economics, decision-making tools, and much more. Alltech will sponsor the Tuesday evening session featuring a presentation by Trent Loos. On Wednesday, breakfast sponsored by Lallemand Animal Nutrition will include a presentation by Rick Grant on forage research at Miner Institute, and the post conference sponsored by Adisseo will explore amino acids for cows past peak lactation and nutrition models.

Certification exams for ARPAS will be available, and the conference will be approved for continuing education credits for ARPAS members and veterinarians. In addition, ARPAS members are invited to participate in a special, members-only lunch on Tuesday with a presentation by Mike Hutjens.

We strive to cover practical and timely issues for the dairy feed and nutrition industry, and our attendees consistently rank this training opportunity as one of the premier events in the Northeast. Hands-on workshops and practical sessions offer information you can use to help your clients succeed. You should be in Grantville in November to expand your knowledge and network with the approximately 500 other consultants and suppliers who attend this event. This year the Nutrition Workshop is expanding to include a day of sessions specifically designed for producers. Dairy farmers are invited to join us November 11 for hands-on sessions to learn more about a variety of nutrition and management topics. Consultants, take this opportunity to bring some of your clients to the conference for an update on the latest issues in applied dairy nutrition and management.
