Kyle Herbrand is the son of Brad and Kari Herbrand. He will graduate from Sauk Prairie High School this year and plans to attend UW-Platteville to major in animal science. He is an active member of his local FFA chapter and 4-H club. He also exhibits animals at local fairs, was named captain of the cross country team and served as treasurer of the National Honor Society. Herbrand plans to pursue a career in animal nutrition. "I want to experience all parts of agriculture so that I can be well-rounded and able to work in and develop all aspects of agriculture," Herbrand said.
Michael Murphy is the son of Dennis and Tammy Murphy. He graduated from James Madison Memorial High School in 2011 and is attending UW-Platteville to earn a degree in agribusiness with a minor in animal science. Murphy works as a farm assistant at several dairy farms and held an internship with Premier Cooperative last summer. He is also a member of UW-Platteville's Collegiate Farm Bureau. In addition to obtaining a career in agriculture, Murphy would like to join in his family's farm in Barneveld. "The dairy industry has always been close to my heart, and I work every day to increase public knowledge and perception of the dairy farmer," Murphy said.
Elizabeth Sarbacker is the daughter of Tom and Vicki Sarbacker. She will graduate from Verona Area High School this year and plans to attend UW-Madison to major in dairy science. She is a member of the Fireballs 4-H Club and the Wisconsin Junior Holstein Association. Sarbacker served as president of the Verona FFA Chapter and is involved in the National Honor Society and Spanish Club. She would like to pursue a career in agriculture and possibly return to her family's dairy farm. "It is a goal of mine to raise my future family with the same values and agriculture background that have made me the person I am today," she said.
Ben Veum is the son of Kenny and Cindy Veum. He will graduate from Stoughton High School this year and plans to attend UW-Madison to major in animal sciences. He is a member of the Rutland 4-H Club and Wisconsin Show Pig Association. He was was elected vice president of the Stoughton FFA Chapter and captain of the varsity soccer team. After college graduation, Veum would like to pursue a career in animal nutrition or genetics. He would also like to start a small sow herd to raise show pigs for local youth. "Agriculture is something that I am passionate about and would love to take that passion into my career," Veum said.
