Plowing through social media options: a program for farmers and agricultural businesses training is being offered in Jefferson, Wis. on Feb. 3.
The program is targeting farmers considering using social media to promote their farms and the agriculture industry.
University of Wisconsin-Extension is offering a program on social media on Feb. 3 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the Jefferson County Office Building.
The program is designed to provide an overview of social media types, as well as advantages and disadvantages of using social media. While all social media tools will be discussed, Facebook will be focused on more than other types.
The afternoon will feature Daphne Holterman, who has been using Facebook as a way to promote her family farm, Rosy-Lane Holsteins, LLC.
Topics include:
- Introduction to social media
- Why should I consider media for my farm business: This includes a general discussion of social media, how to use it to promote your business or industry and determining your social media target audience
- Advantages and disadvantages to using social media
- My social media story. Learn from local farmers who are successfully using social media
