MADISON – The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) is seeking proposals for Value Added Services Funding.  Proposals should increase agricultural producer access to value added opportunities, allowing producers to increase profitability.

Individuals, groups, businesses, and organizations involved in agriculture are invited to apply.  Although the beneficiary of services will be producers, funding will be provided directly to a service provider or an organization that proposes to subcontract with a service provider.

Proposals must assist producers to market or produce value added agricultural products, other than dairy.  Dairy producers interested in similar assistance can already apply to the Dairy Business Innovation Center (DBIC) by contacting 888-623-2269.

Eligible services for producers provided by Value Added Service Funding may include: engineering services, applied research, product development, marketing assistance, and business planning.

Proposals are due by 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2011. Value Added Services Funding proposals are being solicited by DATCP’s Division of Agricultural Development, which works to innovate and diversify the state’s $59 billion agricultural industry and promote its products around the world.

Information and application materials are available at under Business, Ag Innovation & Development. For more details, contact Linda Merriman Hitchman by e-mail at or at 608-224-5132.
