An activist group, the Cornucopia Institute, has filed a legal complaint with the USDA claiming that Aurora Organic Dairy near Dublin, Texas has violated organic standards.

According to the Dallas Morning News, the complaint alleges that Aurora Organic Dairy does not provide adequate pasture and has bought feed that did not meet organic standards. However, Aurora officials say all cows do graze and that they are adding more pasture to the 2,410 acres already in use at the Texas site and that the feed in question was fed to non-organic cows that were sold when the operation was certified organic.

This is not the first complaint that Cornucopia as filed against a large organic dairy. To read a copy of the complaint filed with the USDA, go to: http://www.cornucopia.org/AuroraTexasFarm/3rdAuroraLegalComplaint_7-06_Final.pdf
