Last week the Minnesota Board of Animal Health officials announced that a 12-month old beef heifer tested positive for bovine tuberculosis. This brings the total of infected herds in the state to eight. All are in Roseau and Beltrami counties.

This new case of TB resets the clock toward the state regaining TB-free status. The state has been conducting routine TB screening within the state and had not found any new cases during the past year. One of the requirements to regain TB-free status is two years of no new cases.
