Another terrible dairy fire

A terrible fire occurred Monday evening, killing hundreds of cattle. The latest reports are that 450 cows died.

The fire occurred at a dairy farm in the Canadian province of Manitoba.

"We’re still trying to determine how many cattle survived and how many were destroyed," Royal Canadian Mounted Police Corporal Sean Grunewald is quoted as saying in the Winnepeg Free Press. "The fire smouldered all night long," he said.

Total damage is estimated at $8.5 million.

Meanwhile, the family says it intends to rebuild.

There have been several fires lately that have claimed large numbers of dairy cattle. Two such fires occurred in April in Jefferson County, N..Y.
