The budget axe strikes again.

Effective yesterday, Michigan will no longer maintain physical regional offices for the Department of Agriculture. Field employees will work from their homes, and customers will be directed to a central telephone help-line in Lansing, Mich.

The Department estimates the move will save $600,000 from its budget.
