California dairy to supply natural gas

Vintage Dairy, near Riverdale, Calif., is the first dairy to be approved by the California Public Utilities Commission to produce natural gas from dairy-cow manure.

According to the Fresno Bee, David Albers, who owns Vintage Dairy, also owns BioEnergy Solutions which received approval for the project in late May. The methane produced on farm will be upgraded and delivered through Pacific Gas & Electric Co.’s pipeline. Construction at the dairy is expected to begin within the next few weeks.
