New bilingual labels can now be found on select Swiss Dairy milk varieties in markets across Southern California.
Swiss Dairy, based in Riverside, Calif., is the first milk processor in California to offer a label in Spanish. The label can be found immediately on Swiss Dairy whole and 2-percent milk. Within six weeks, it will be available on Swiss Dairy low-fat and fat-free milk.
Swiss Dairy markets more than 100,000 gallons of milk per day to approximately 9,000 distribution outlets in Southern California, including Hispanic supermarkets, chain drug and convenience stores, mass merchandisers, club stores and select restaurants.
The new labels sport Swiss Dairy’s familiar red and white trademark branding and signature milk man.
“It’s the same high-quality milk we’ve been selling for 50 years,” stresses Ed Zimmerman, general sales manager for Swiss Dairy. “But, now our milk closely reflects the diversity of our community and the backbone of our customer base.”
According to industry experts, Swiss Dairy’s new labels mark the beginning of a trend in the dairy and packaged food industries that is expected to extend beyond fluid milk in the near future.
