CNN reports the Huishan Dairy has installed the world’s largest methane capturing system to translate biogas from 60,000 cows into 5.6 megawatts of power.

The energy generated from the cows at the dairy in Shenyang, China is enough to power thousands of homes. The energy will be used on the farm, excess power will be sold to power companies. Along with the biogas produced, the plant will produce 619,770 tons of fertilizer per year.

The system collects methane from aged cow manure, breaks waste into gas using an anaerobic digester then separating corrosive hydrogen sulfide before being burned by a GE Jenbacher engine.
