Producers can receive a 10 percent discount on the cost of federal crop insurance.

Farmers in six more states can now take advantage of a USDA program that provides discounts on crop insurance. The Premium Discount Plan offered through Crop1 Insurance in Des Moines, Iowa, will give producers in Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, South Dakota, Texas and Wisconsin the opportunity to get 10 percent off the cost of their federal crop insurance without altering their level of coverage. Crop1 is the only company authorized to pass these savings onto farmers.

The program started last year in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska and North Dakota.
