Cooperatives Working Together announced this week that it has accepted five export assistance bids for the sale of butter, cheese and anhydrous milkfat. The bids are as follows:

  • Dairy Farmers of America, Kansas City, Mo, (DFA) for the export of 220,000 pounds (100 metric tons) of anhydrous milkfat to Canada.  
  • DFA, Kansas City, Mo. for the export of 10,120 pounds (4.6 metric tons) of mixed consumer-packaged cheeses to Mexico.  
  • California Dairies, Artesia, CA, for the export of 55,000 lbs, (25 metric tons) of butter to Lebanon.
  • DFA, Kansas City, Mo. for the export of 422,400 pounds (192 metric tons) of Cheddar cheese to Japan.
  • DFA, Kansas City, Mo. for the export of 292,600 pounds (133 metric tons) of Cheddar cheese to South Korea.  

CWT will pay export bonuses to the bidders, once completion of the butter, cheese and milkfat shipments is verified.

These approved bids increase CWT’s total year-to-date cheese exports to 5.70 million lbs. (2,590 metric tons); YTD butter exports to 10.63 million pounds, (4,832 metric tons); YTD exports of anhydrous milk fat to 2.56 million lbs. (1,165 metric tons); and its YTD whole milk powder exports to 3.53 million lbs. (1,604 metric tons).

Previous shipments facilitated by CWT’s export assistance program have gone to Algeria, Barbados, Denmark, the Dominican Republic, Egypt, El Salvador, Germany, Guatemala, Honduras, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Mexico, Morocco, the Netherlands, Nicaragua, Oman, Panama, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Trinidad, Tunisia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam.

Through CWT’s Export Assistance program, transactions occur as overseas buyers are found for the products, and as CWT’s members bid to be compensated for selling cheese, butter, anhydrous milk fat and whole milk powder to those importers.
