The Kings County (Calif.) Sheriff’s Department is investigating the death of a dairy employee and his eight-year-old son. The two had gone to Contente Dairy in Hanford on Saturday night to feed calves. When they didn’t return home family members called both the dairy owner, and the police for help.

Their bodies were found Sunday morning when the concrete-lined holding pond that collects rainwater and manure to prevent it from running off the farm was dredged.

Investigators report that it appears the pickup they drove to the farm stalled and that they tried to take a shortcut home and slipped into the manure-containment area in the dark. For more from Yahoo News go to: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060308/ap_on_re_us/manure_deaths_2
