Dairy producers now have until August 12 to sign up for the EPA air consent agreement.

In addition to the two-week extension, the EPA, in a letter sent to the National Milk Producers Federation, says that if national funding is not obtained for the dairy emissions study that dairy producers will have the option to withdraw from the agreement. That means producers will not be asked to foot the bill alone.

The letter also explains that EPA will hold all dairy agreements until last. That means all other livestock groups wanting to participate in the air consent agreement program will go through final approval with the Environmental Appeals Board first.

And, if NMPF informs EPA that funding is unavailable, EPA will not forward agreements to the next stage for final approval. To read the letter from the EPA, follow this link.
