A long-time leader of the dairy industry, David Dickson, died Friday following a battle with cancer. He was 71.
Dickson is well known for coaching the University of Wisconsin’s dairy-judging team over the years, while serving as a dairy science professor at the school. His students earned many national honors.
He also served on the World Dairy Expo board of directors and also was a Holstein Foundation trustee. He was the founding advisor to UW-Madison's Badger Dairy Club, and served as advisor to the Midwest and National student affiliate divisions of the American Dairy Science Association.
A funeral visitation will be on July 14 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Cress Funeral Home in Madison, with a memorial service following at 3 p.m. Memorial gifts can be made to the UW Foundation Dairy Cattle Judging Team Fund at US Bank Lockbox, P.O. Box 78807, Milwaukee, Wis. 53278-0807.
