Doing the little things right, every day, was the recurring advice offered by all of the winners of the 2010 Dairy Cattle Reproduction Council’s reproduction award. The top herds were recognized last week during the organization’s annual meeting in St. Paul, Minn.
The awards program is in its second year, and planners were happy to note that 94 herds were nominated by industry personnel for this year’s judging. Awards were given for honorable mention, silver, gold and plantinum categories.
The five Platinum Award winners took to the podium for a panel discussion to share the secrets of their success. Without fail, representatives of each dairy noted that protocol compliance, good people, cow comfort, and keeping things as simple as possible were the keys to their success.
