In spite of a sustained period of lower-than-normal milk prices, Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) hit its earning goal and returned a record amount of equity to members, the producer co-op announced.

DFA, the nation’s largest dairy farmer-owned marketing cooperative, marketed and processed more than 45 billion pounds of milk last year for its 27,000 members in 45 states. DFA supplies milk to bottling and manufacturing plants that produce a complete line of dairy products and food components for consumers world-wide.

DFA will hold its annual meeting March 27-28 in Kansas City, Mo.
