In an editorial this week, the Wisconsin State Journal encourages careful regulatory oversight of mega-farms.

“A recent State Journal investigation by reporter Ron Seely revealed widening gaps in the state’s ability to regulate and monitor large-scale dairy operations in Wisconsin. In a nutshell, the growth of big dairy farms — those with 700 cows or more — has outpaced the Department of Natural Resources’ ability to inspect them consistently,” the editorial said.
