A group of European dairy farmers says it is going to stage a protest outside a meeting of European Union agriculture ministers and the European Commission headquarters in Brussels next Monday. At issue are government dairy price supports for farmers and concerns over privatization.

According to a report by The Canadian Press, small farmers say they are worried that the EU is pushing for more private contracts between farmers and milk producers which could force farmers to accept lower prices.

However, the EU’s largest farming group says it does not support a government prop-up of prices and will not join the protest.
