The Food and Drug Administration announces a public meeting entitled, ‘‘2010 Scientific Meeting of the National Antimicrobial Resistance Monitoring System,’’ to take place in Atlanta, Georgia, at the Hyatt Regency-Atlanta hotel on July 15 and 16, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The topic of discussion will be results from the National Antimicrobial Resistance Monitoring System and related antimicrobial resistance monitoring and research, including activities in other national programs.  The meeting also will address goals and challenges of monitoring antimicrobial susceptibility in foodborne bacteria, and research on the microbiology and epidemiology of resistance.

There is no registration fee for the public meeting; however, registering on or before July 7 is recommended because seating is limited. The registration form can be accessed on line.   Registration on the day of the meeting will be provided while space is still available, beginning at 8 a.m.

More information is available from the FDA/CVM Web site.
