On behalf of the clients and audience of the Vance Publishing food360° division, and in conjunction with the Kansas City Airport Hilton, more than $19,000 worth of food is being distributed to Harvesters food bank and City Union Mission to help those in need this holiday season.
“We have all lived and benefited by our hardworking agricultural community, and we want to give back during this tough economic time,” says food360° Vice President/Publishing Director Cliff Becker. “This is exactly the type of activity we believe can make a positive difference in our local community.”
food360° includes Dairy Herd Management and its sister publications.
Early in 2009, food360° cancelled a planned event at the Kansas City Hilton, and instead of a credit or refund, decided to work with the hotel to donate $10,000 in food to both the local Harvesters food bank and the City Union Mission.
City Union Mission served more than 329,669 meals for the hungry and provided more than 140,956 beds for the weary in 2009. Harvesters' network of more than 550 non-profit agencies feeds more than 60,000 people each week. Almost half of those receiving emergency food assistance from Harvesters are children.
“We are happy to be able to help our community with this food donation in honor of our loyal and committed audience and sponsors,” says Becker.
food360° is working to continuously build resources for the agricultural community with their Crisis Management Resource Centers. Please visit www.dairyherd.com/crisis for more information.
