According to a report from the Food and Agricultural Policy Research Institute (FAPRI) per capita cheese consumption is expected to grow by just 2 pounds between now and 2013. That’s a much slower pace than seen during the past decade.
The FAPRI report called the 2004 U.S. agricultural briefing book which was released last week, pegged 2003 cheese consumption at 30.8 pounds. The 2 pounds of growth is expected to occur primarily in cheeses other than American-type cheeses.
