If you think the advances machinery manufacturers have made in hay and forage harvesting equipment are amazing, just wait.

To meet the needs of dairy producers, forage equipment will become even more productive and "smarter" in the future, says Kevin Shinners, agricultural engineer at the University of Wisconsin.

The equipment will get smarter by having sensors to measure crop moisture, nutrients and yield. Furthermore, look for new equipment and management strategies to facilitate dry-down of fields. And, for mower-conditioners to gain even more capacity.
