According to an article in the Modesto Bee, The Hershey Co. announced on Monday that it is closing its chocolate plant in Oakdale, Calif.  The plant will close in January.

A company spokesman said the Oakdale plant was operating at about 40 percent of capacity so they will be consolidating operations to improve efficiencies.

Dairy producers who were selling their milk to Hershey’s will now need to find another plant willing to take their milk. Some in the California dairy industry say that could be difficult to do given that most plants in the area are thought to be running at capacity.
