According to a report by the Oklahoma Farm Report, the vice chairman of Vermont state senate agriculture committee has introduced legislation mandating the presence of the Humane Society of the United States or other like minded groups at livestock auctions and processing plants.
The text of the bill reads that an inspector who is a representative of the HSUS or similar organization shall be present to observe a slaughterer, packer, or stockyard operator when engaged in the practice of bleeding or slaughtering livestock.
