Idaho Power Company To Offer Power From Dairy’s Biogas Plant

BrighterEnergy.org reports the Idaho Power Company is seeking approval to buy power from an anaerobic digestion facility at Double A Dairy.

The Double A Digester project will be built in Lincoln County, Idaho at Double A Dairy. The project is expected to be operational on the first day of 2012.

The Idaho Power Company plans to sign the 20-year power purchase agreement with AgPower Jerome LLC., but must first gain approval from the Idaho Public Utilities Commission.

In the agreement, The Idaho Power Company will buy power from the 1.6-megawatt anaerobic digestion facility beginning January 1, 2012 at $80.05 per kilowatt-hour. The price will increase steadily with each kWh costing $128.31 in the last year of the contract.
