Dairy industry leaders in Idaho are working together with the goal of bringing a new state-of-the-art dairy research facility to reality.

The current research facility at the University of Idaho, Moscow campus is an old-fashioned barn that accommodates about 200 cows. In order to make real-world comparisons, and find solutions to problems that modern, large dairies face a new facility is needed.

The University of Idaho would like to develop a 1,500 cow facility at a cost of about $30 million.

The University and Idaho dairy industry began talking about the idea a few years ago. The facility would study “western style concentrated animal feeding operations” and the issues they face.
