Immigration reform stalls in Senate

The highly-contentious and high-profile effort to reform America's immigration laws stalled last Thursday in the Senate, when supporters of the compromise immigration reform bill failed to pass a motion to end debate on the bill and bring it to a vote.

As a result, the Senate leadership has pulled the bill from consideration as behind the scenes negotiations about the bill's fate continue.

NMPF is still committed to the reform effort, and will continue its efforts to urge Senators to address the comprehensive reform package that the Senate debated last week. The measure still contains the key plank that many farm groups are supporting: the AgJobs legislation.

NMPF's members are asked to continue their outreach with elected officials about the need to deal with immigration in a comprehensive and timely way. You can use NMPF’s Dairy GREAT web page to obtain the phone numbers for your state's senators.
