Improve your calf raising skills at the upcoming Calf Health and Management Workshops presented by the Penn State Dairy Alliance. 

The workshops will focus on calf care for animals from birth through 6 months of age.

Colostrum management, calf health, vaccines for calves and younger heifers, calf and weaned calf housing, and calf and weaned calf nutrition are among the topics to be explored. Animal well-being issues will also be discussed.

Each one-day workshop will be offered from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on these dates at the following sites:

  • Feb. 17, Mercer, Pa.
  • Feb. 22, Greensburg, Pa.
  • Feb. 24, Chambersburg, Pa.
  • March 1, East Earl, Pa. 
  • March 3, Troy, Pa.

Advance registration is required.

Thanks to a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, a registration discount of 50 percent is available to Pennsylvania dairy producers and their employees, who may attend for $10 per person. The fee is $20 for consultants and non-Pennsylvania dairy producers and dairy employees.
